Easy WordPress Plugin Installation
Okay, so as promised I am going to try my best to do WordPress the easy way this year. So my first step is to get in the habit of searching for and installing WordPress plugins within the dashboard instead of searching all over Google.
So, to find and install plugins for WordPress simply log in to your WordPress dashboard and scroll down to plugins on the left hand sidebar. In the plugins section click on Add New
.
Within the Install Plugins section can type in the name of a plugin or something you are searching for. You can also upload and install a plugin that you have already downloaded as a zip file on your computer. You can also search in the featured, popular, newest or recently updated categories.
When you find a plugin that you want to install click on the install link on the far right of the screen. This pulls up all of the information for the plugin. Click on Install Now and complete the process. Hope this helps.

I don’t know why I try to do things the hard way. While I think there is very little value in becoming a Web Geek [unless that is what your goal is], I do like at least trying to figure out how to do things the right way. But, that can sometimes get in the way of finding the simplest solution.
For example, when installing plugins for WordPress up to this point I had always done it the hard way. I searched on Google, downloaded the plugin, uploaded it using an FTP program [FireFTP for Firefox] and then logged in and installed it in the WordPress Dashboard.
So even though I knew shortcuts were in the WordPress dashboard for finding and installing themes and plugins, I still did it the hard way. My goal this year is to take every shortcut possible. That may not be up to my Web Geek friend’s standards, but it will helpful for you as I will try to point out some of those shortcuts. Look for them sprinkled in to the blog in upcoming posts.
